A scurry of excitement has broken out across the Fun World & Scream collecting community— and rightfully so! A long awaited dream of fans everywhere may finally be realized... The return of the original Weeping Ghost!
But let's keep a level head and set the facts straight, because what this means yet is not entirely clear.

I've been stormed with messages asking my thoughts and opinions on this 30th Anniversary Mask project. While it's been hard to address everybody, I hope I can summarize some key points here:
Yes, this is real. The viral image was leaked from a 2026 Fun World catalog variation published by Canadian distributor SKS Novelty Co. You can view the pdf here. (*Edit: the catalog image has now been removed at Fun World's request)
The mask in the image is NOT the product. Retailers have confirmed the mask in the catalog is a vintage mask acting as a placeholder while the actual product is in development. While it is not the actual mask, it does demonstrate Fun World's full intent: to homage the original mask in celebration of Scream's 30th Anniversary.
It will NOT come from the original molds. Fun World does not have the Gen 1 molds. This product will be a replica of sorts. It could end up being a recast or 3D scan off an original, or a new sculpt using the original as reference.
Will this tank the vintage market? No— vintage masks will always retain a preferred status. Don't go selling off your prized masks. We don't know what the final product will be or how they'll stand up to originals.
We don't know what the actual product will look like. *Say it again for the folks in the back* There is no product or prototype yet. While the proposal boasts a high reward, we can only wait and see. Stay tuned, because for now it is "very much a work in progress". Anyone claiming to know what this will feature or look like is chasing bad rumors and playing telephone in Facebook comment sections.
When will they be available? New Fun World products are usually available for pre-order through various retailers in Spring and begin shipping late August— though we do not know if this will be an exception.
It is not guaranteed to release. Despite the leak, Fun World has cataloged products before that never made it to market due to low interest from retailers and distributors. With the explosive interest seen throughout mask world I'm hopeful— especially in this new climate of specialized retailers targeting fans directly (some even fans or collectors themselves). But us collectors are a small demographic of Fun World's usual target: mass audiences and big box chains.
In the meantime, get hyped! It's a celebratory prospect for the community. Let's hope for the best and let time tell.
