One of the most memorable Fun World items of the late 90s is the Dripping Bleeding Mask series. It was first released in 1998 and is still on store shelves in a smaller capacity today. They were an innovative special effect novelty mask with trickling blood animated by the squeeze of a pump. They are engineered to allow formulated 'fun blood' to drip between two plastic layers and recollect in a heart shaped pump for repeat action. Aside from the popular masks there were many costumes, accessories, and novelty items featuring their bleeding effect.

Patent US6093475A describes a "costume element having an inner layer and an at least in part transparent outer layer forming a passage therebetween, the passage having an upper opening. A fluid visible in at least a part of the passage is injected into the passage through the upper opening. A lower opening to the passage can be coupled to the upper opening by one or more tubes providing fluid communication and a pump."
Sketch for 'Bleeding costume element' U.S. Patent #6,093,475 filed October 19, 1998.

Fun World's Bleeding Dripping masks were introduced in 1998 with the 'Alien', (Living) 'Skull' and (Steve) 'Skull'. After its initial success, other designs were progressively rolled out over the following years such as the 'Scream Stalker', 'Goalie', 'Ancient Zombie', 'Devil', and 'Rocker'. The line continued to expand through the 2010s, though our website is focused on the golden age (90s & 00s). Bleeding masks are mostly retired today, though have returned in recent years in a small capacity with 'Ghost Face' and 'Whassup!'.

Fun World's bleeding line expanded the reaches of Halloween novelty items. The effect was used on costumes like the bleeding 'Scream Stalker', 'Reaper', 'Alien Stalker', 'Whassup', 'Skele-Bones', and 'See-More Guts' (aka 'Runaway Patient').
